Ruth Naomi Grandel Polen, 89, of 1259 Wilcox Avenue, passed away Tuesday, November 10th, 2015, at her residence.

Born in Washington, Pennsylvania, she was the widow of the late Edward Francis Polen II and the daughter of the late Ralph Grandel and Hilda Briggs Grandel. Mrs. Polen retired from the United States Postal Service and was of the Pentecostal Faith. She served in the US Naval Reserves during World War II.

Surviving Mrs. Polen are one son, Edward F. Polen, of Archdale, NC; one granddaughter, Rebecca Walker and husband, Tim, of Blacksburg; and three great-grandchildren, Kevin Patrick Jr. of Kings Mountain, and Myra and Colten Walker of Blacksburg.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 17th, 2015, from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Gordon Mortuary. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 18th, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Gordon Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Chris Barfield officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Memorial Park in Pineville, NC.

The family will be at the home of Ed Polen, 232 Davidson Street, Archdale, NC 27263.
