Sallie Spencer Burton, 80, passed away peacefully December 20, 2017 at White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain, NC. She was born October 8, 1937 in Jamesville, North Carolina to the late Lawrence Ward Spencer, Sr. and Susie Shaw Spencer. She was a cafeteria worker for Cleveland and Gaston County Schools for many years. She was a member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church. In her earlier years she played trombone in the band, and was very athletic playing fast pitch softball out of Melbourne, Florida where her team won the world championship. She loved gardening and canning throughout her years of life.

She was preceded in death by her siblings Barbara Spencer Haas, Lawrence Ward Spencer, Jr., and Mack McCord Spencer.

Sallie is survived by her brother, William Patrick Spencer, sister, Dorothy Spencer West, and children Mary Simmons Bush (Robert) of Oklahoma, Marcia Lynne Simmons of Shelby, Buck Burton (Kim) of Gastonia, Carl Burton (Annette) of Kings Mountain, grandchildren Kenny Stickel, Jada Daniel, Angel Simmons, Ryan Burton, Casey Bush, Jessie Bush, Jessica Burton, Spencer Burton, and Lindsey Burton and 10 great grandchildren.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: December 30, 2017 at Patterson Grove Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Tim Hendrick and Rev. Michael Chambers. Visitation 2:00 PM -3:30 PM, Memorial Service 4:00 PM.
