Sallie West Mayes, 82, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on August 14, 2019 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, NC. She was born in Cherokee Co, NC, to the late Edmund West and Palace Gregory West and was preceded in death by son, Joe Self; brother, Gerald West; sisters, Betty Shields, Louise Farmer, Hazel Pilkey and Mary Shields. She was retired from the textile industry, a homemaker and caregiver, a hardworker who loved her flowers and gardening. A longtime member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She always enjoyed visiting her old homeplace in the Mountains.

Daughter: Kathy Jean Crego, Kings Mtn. NC

Brothers: Kenneth West and wife Lowanda, and Earl West and wife Barbara, all of Andrews, NC

Sister: Doris Wineburger, Hickory, NC

Grandchildren: Ashley Smith and husband Jamie, Kings Mtn. NC; Erica Self, Asheville, NC; Sara Self, Blacksburg, SC; Alison Self, Myrtle Beach, SC

Great Grandchildren: Paislee Beasley, Blacksburg, SC; Kaylee Smith and Casey Smith both of Kings Mtn. NC

GRAVESIDE SERVICE: Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jim Brackett officiating

VISITATION: Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM prior to the service at Harris Funeral Home
