Sam Carrol Sain

Sam Carrol Sain, 88, of Fallston Road, Lawndale passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at his home with his family by his side.

Sam was born on October 30, 1937, in Cleveland County and was the son of the late Samuel Moser Sain and Velma Howell Sain. He was a graduate of Lenoir Rhyne and retired from Allstate Insurance as a property adjuster. Sam was an avid horseback rider who enjoyed riding the trails of South Mountain State Park. He continued riding until the age of eighty-six. He was an active member of St. Peter's Methodist Church and the men's group. Sam was also a Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Ike & Lois Price; son, Rick Lamb; and granddaughter, Allie Styers.

Survived by his wife of forty-five years, Ellen P. Sain; daughters Mandy Hamrick (Brooks) of Shelby, and Lara Hemrick (Chris) of Stanley (Chris), & sister-in-law Hildred Gilchrist of Belwood. Sam loved his grandchildren, Isaac, Ayden, Macie, Tess, Tate & Emree. He thought each one of them hung the moon.

A Memorial service will be held on Monday, May 25, 2026, at St. Peter's Methodist Church with the Rev. David Sain officiating.
