Sam M. Schenck, Jr. passed away in the early morning hours of May 5, 2020 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center. He was the son of the late Dr. Sam Schenck and his wife Charlotte. Sam was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Shelby. Sam attended the Deveraux School in Philadelphia PA. as a young man. He was 90 years old and traveled the world extensively in his early years.

Sam was a brother to his sister Ansley Newton of Shelby and an uncle to Robert and wife MaryKate of Chapel Hill, Ansley Newton of Pownal, Maine and Clint Newton III of Shelby. He was a great uncle to Robert and Mary Kate's daughters, Lily and Grace. The most important person in his life in recent years was his faithful caregiver, Ms. Joanne Dellinger of Kings Mountain, she meant everything to him.

He loved the officers and deputies of the Shelby Police Department and the Cleveland County Sheriff's Department. Sam never had an unkind word to say about anyone.

We wish to thank all those at Cleveland Pines who loved and cared for him. We will miss him dearly.
