Sam Stanley Snyder

Rev. Sam Stanley Snyder, 89, of Shelby, went home to be with the Lord on
Monday, May 28, 2018 at Cleveland Pines Nursing Center in Shelby.

Born in Caldwell County on August 17, 1928, he was a son of the late Dewey
Lee Snyder and Launa Pearl McNabb Snyder. Rev. Snyder received
hisCertificate of License, The Gospel Ministry, at Medulla Baptist Church,
Lakeland, Florida on February 15, 1961; Certificate of Ordination, on March
26, 1961 at Brownville Baptist Church, Arcadia, Florida; Associates Degree
in Arts from Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon, GA on May 31, 1964;
Bachelor of Arts Degree from Shorter University in Rome, GA on August 14,
1966; and his Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological
Seminary at Wake Forest, NC on May 29, 1970.

Rev. Snyder served Brownville Baptist Church, Arcadia, Florida; Mt. Pisgah
Baptist Church, Kibbee, GA; Vann's Valley Baptist Church, Rome, GA; Emmaus
Baptist Church, Pittsboro, NC; Buffalo Baptist Church, Shelby, NC; Christian
Freedom Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, NC; director of missions for the
Greater Cleveland County Baptist Association; and after his retirement he
did supply and interim work for various churches.

He also served in the North Carolina State National Guard for one and a half
years during World War II entering the service at age sixteen.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and
Jerry Snyder.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-nine years, Gladys Mae Tedder Snyder;
two sons and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Mildred Snyder of Shelby and Terry
Snyder of Casar; daughter and son-in-law, Joy and David Devine of Belmont;
brother, Keith Snyder of Asheville; sister, Patsy Ann Fowler of Lenoir; four
grandchildren and spouses, Sherry Ann and Vincent Baxter, Jeremy Stephen and
Stephanie Snyder; Sam David Devine, and Olivia Grace Devine; and four
great-grandchildren, Ann Marie Baxter, Madelyn Baxter, Kennedy Snyder, and
Porter Snyder.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Ross
Grove Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 4:00 PM at Ross Grove
Baptist Church, Shelby with the Revs. Marcus McGill, Jamie Bridges and Mike
Chambers officiating.

The burial will follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston.
