Sandra "Sandy" Schenck Dedmon

Sandra "Sandy" Schenck Dedmon, age 80, passed away on October 24, just before midnight.

Born in Pennsylvania, Sandy was raised in Shelby by her parents, Jean Schenck and Corinne Crowell Schenck. Some of her fondest childhood memories included spending time in Blowing Rock, riding horses, and bird hunting with her father, experiences that remained a special part of her early years.

Sandy was a graduate of Shelby High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was a proud alumna.

Sandy was a remarkably positive person who lived by strong moral principles and treated others with love and kindness. Her outlook on life and the way she cared for those around her made her an inspiration to her children. She shared a deep love of art, animals, and farm life, passions that her children will carry forward in her memory. The values she lived by and the love she gave so freely will remain a lasting part of her family's legacy.

Sandy was preceded in death by her father, Jean Schenck; her beloved husband, Richard Dedmon; and her mother, Corinne Crowell Schenck.

She is survived by her loving children, Susannah Dedmon and her husband, Travis Pryduluk, and her son, Garth Dedmon. She was a proud grandmother to Maxwell and Benjamin, the children of Susannah and Travis, and Bryson and Avalyn, the children of Garth, and extended family.

Sandy will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family and all those whose lives she touched. Her kindness, positive spirit, and enduring love for her family will continue to shine through the lives of her children and grandchildren. Though she is no longer with them, the lessons she taught, the passions she shared, and the memories she created will remain forever in their hearts.

Her legacy lives on in the family she loved, the friends she made, the values she instilled, and the beauty she found in art, animals, and the simple joys of farm life.

A funeral service to honor the life of Sandy will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 7, 2026 at Central United Methodist Church with Rev. David Lee Officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary. A committal will follow the service in Sunset Cemetery.
