Saranan Morgan Brady
Saranan Morgan Brady, age 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep with family at her side on Friday October 26, 2012 at Hospice of Cleveland County. She was the daughter of the late O.Z. and Minnietta Morgan and the wife of the late Thomas A. Brady. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert F. and Ruth Morgan, and O. Jack and Barbara Morgan.
Mrs. Brady was a graduate of George Peabody Teachers College of Vanderbilt University. Prior to her marriage, she taught physical education in the Shelby and Charlotte school systems and at Gardner-Webb Junior College. She set an example of good health and well-being to many young women.
A member of Central United Methodist Church since returning to Shelby after her husband's death, Mrs. Brady sang in the choir and worked tirelessly with the CUMC Altar Guild. Mrs. Brady loved sports of all kinds, especially golf, and cherished time spent with her close knit circle of friends. Most of all, she was a loving and feisty aunt to her nieces and nephews who were devoted to her as the last member of her generation in the family. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her nephews and their families; Judge James W. Morgan and his wife Page of Shelby, and their sons, Sam Morgan of Brooklyn NY and Jack Morgan of Chapel Hill; Joseph H. Morgan and his wife Jodi of Shelby and their children, Emily Morgan of Chapel Hill, Hill Morgan and Grady Morgan of Shelby; and her nieces, Eleanor Morgan of Shelby; Serena Barry and her husband Learned of Richmond Va., and their children Morgan Barry of Wilmington and Robert Barry of Washington D.C., and Mary Foster and her husband Max, of Charlotte and their daughter Corbett Foster, of Charlotte. She also leaves a very special family friend, Ann Mauney of Shelby.
Funeral services will be on Sunday October 28, 2012 at 1:30 pm at Central United Methodist Church with Rev. Craig Langston officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall, and other times at the home of Jim and Page Morgan, 1225 Brookwood Rd. Shelby.  Burial will follow the visitation, Sunday, in Sunset Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Central United Methodist Church, 200 East Marion Street Shelby NC 28150 or Cleveland County Hospice, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby NC 28150
