SHELBY: Selma Hawkins Bridges, 90, died Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Carolinas Healthcare System-Cleveland. A native of Cleveland Co., she was born to the late William and Vida Hughes Hawkins. She was a lifelong member of Lafayette St. Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Fred Rollins Sunday School class, United Methodist Women, Choir, and Thirty Niners. She enjoyed spending time at the Wendy's round table.

PRECEDED: In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Aileen Patterson, Nellie Turner and Annie Ruth Smith; brothers, William Boyce Hawkins and Carl Ray Hawkins; and great grandson, Jordin Hamrick.

SURVIVED: She is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Otha Bridges, of the home; son, Wayne Bridges and wife Debbie of Lattimore; daughter Edith Ann Deaton and husband Robert of Shelby; brother, Ralph Hawkins of Burlington; grandchildren, Jeremy Bridges and wife Laura, Anna Swink and husband Eli, Ashley Kee and husband David, Matthew Deaton and wife Kelly; great grandchildren, Jake Bridges, Jacob Hamrick, Jayden Swink, Carter Kee, Carsyn Kee, Harrison Deaton, and soon to be Charlie Kee; and canine companion, Sophie.

.VISITATION: The family will receive friends from 9:30-11AM, prior to the service, at the church.

FUNERAL SERVICES: will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 11 AM at Lafayette Street United Methodist Church.

OFFICIATING: Rev. Arthur Holland will officiate.

BURIAL: Will be at Sunset Cemetery
