Coach Gray Tedder and Sharks swimmer Kaitlyn Moss.
November 8th through the 10th, Sharks Aquatic Club opened their short course season in Duncan, SC at the YSSC Thanksgiving Invitational. This meet showcased some of the fastest swimmers from the region, attracting teams from Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina with 744 swimmers competing.
Top Ten finishers for the Sharks were:
Parker Campbell (1st in 100 and 200 yard backstrokes, 2nd in the 200 freestyle, 3rd in the 200 IM, 400 IM, and 500 freestyle, and 5th in the 1000 freestyle); Matt Campbell (9th in 50 freestyle and 10th in 100 freestyle); Rileigh Hazen (9th in the 50 butterfly); Madelyn Martelle (3rd in 100 backstroke, 9th in 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke); Kaitlyn Moss (10th in 50 freestyle).
Matt Campbell, Mason Demetro, and Rileigh Hazen went best times in each event they swam over the weekend.
Head Coach Gray Tedder was excited to see the Sharks step up and swim fast.  “This was our first meet of the season, and looking back to our results from early last season, we are swimming much faster now” said Tedder.  “I was excited to see our athletes step up and swim fast, knowing that they are very tired because we have been in a heavy, intense period of training. I’m looking forward to seeing the swimmers perform in December with some rest. I’m anticipating some really fast swimming!”
Next up for the Sharks is a Blue Ridge Swim League Quad Meet in Hickory, NC at Lenoir-Rhine College on November 23rd. Following that, the team will have meets in Charlotte and Greensboro December 6th-8th.
