Sharon Duncan Bess, age 70, died Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Hospice of Cleveland County. Born in Mitchell County on November 14, 1947 she was the daughter of the late Dennis Duncan and Ruth Grindstaff Duncan. Sharon was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church where she was the Sunday School teacher for 3,4 & 5 year olds as well as being a member of the Craft Ladies and Triple L. Sharon was retired from Dr. Joseph R. Hendrick's Dental Office, a member of the Spruce Pine Chapter No. 27 Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed camping and bluegrass music

Sharon is survived by her husband of 30 years, Harold Bess of Shelby, one sister, Pat Hopson and husband Joe of Grover, one brother, Mike Duncan and wife Shirley of Altamont, brother-in-law, Hugh Bess and wife Carolyn of Shelby and sister-in-law Hilda Bess Blanton and husband Tony of Shelby as well as "our girls"; Rebecca Blanton and husband Eddie of Shelby, Brooke Aldridge and husband Darin of Cherryville, Christy Humphries and husband David of Cherryville, Amanda Koester of Louisville, KY and Bella Baltierra and David Koester also of Louisville, KY.

Celebration of Life will be held 5 pm Wednesday, August, 22, 2018 in the Family Life Center of Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Oliver officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
