| Shelby 14U All-Stars Win Back to Back Tar Heel State Championships! |

The Shelby Girl’s Fast Pitch Softball All-Stars, 14 and under team, celebrate after pounding Western Harnet 16-1 to win the 2014 Tar Heel State Championship for the second year in a row. The 14 and under all-stars were joined by Shelby’s 8 and under team, as they also took the 2014 state title. The 8U team defeated Louisburg 19-8 in there final game. The outstanding player in the 14U team to help Shelby secure their second state championship was Carmen Pearson. In 3 games and 14 innings, she struck out 33 players and hit two home runs. The Tar Heel State Tournament was held July 17th-20th at Shelby City Park. - M. A. Andrews
