Shelby Aquatic Center Opens Saturday, May 25th
On Saturday, May 18th, the Shelby Sharks swim team met at the Aquatic Center to help get the pool ready for the 2013 season. The Sharks will compete in three meets this year in Shelby and include children 6 through 18 years of age. Sharks Coach, Gray Tedder said “We’ll do well this year and should have a lot of swimmers at state championship meets. Hopefully, Parker Campbell of Shelby High School will qualify for the Junior National Meet, the fastest meet in the country for 18 year olds and under. His speciality is the backstroke and freestyle events.” The Shelby Aquatic Center is considered to be one of the best pools in the Southeast and is located at Shelby City Park, 850 W. Sumter Street. The pool will start the season by opening Memorial Day Weekend, May 25, 26 and 27 and again June 1 and 2. The regular daily schedule will start Monday, June 10th. Admission fees are $2.00 for age 12 and under; $3.00 13 years and over; $2.00 for 55 and older. Ages 12 years and under must be accompanied by an adult 20 years of age or older. Pool hours are 1:00 to 5:30pm Mondays through Thursdays; 12:00 to 6:00pm Fridays & Saturdays and 2:00 to 6:00pm Sundays.  Season passes are available and programs include Swim Buddies and Family Swim.
