Cleveland County's newest radio station launched its webcast today, Thursday, February 28th. Shelby Info Radio will be featuring a music format with "The Best Music from THEN and NOW!". Our goal is to provide Cleveland County with first class programming, provided by the Positive Media Network, and bring a refreshing variety of tunes to our area.
We know that you will like what you hear and are very excited to invite you to listen in at www.shelbyinforadio.com. Shelby Info Radio will provide local temperatures, time, community news and announcements, plus offer great advertising opportunities for businesses.

Where can you listen?
The beauty of web radio is that it is available everywhere that there is an internet connection. Lying on some exotic beach or when visiting the mountains many miles from Shelby, you will still be able to listen to Shelby Info Radio. Stay informed with your hometown communities while traveling almost anywhere. Most restaurants and business settings now have wi-fi available for their customers and with 50% of Americans owning smartphones the accessibility of receiving webcast radio is becoming endless. In 2014 most new vehicles will be offering wi-fi through their audio systems.

How does it work?
Streaming is a method of delivering an audio signal to your computer over the internet, and differs from the normal method of receiving Internet audio in one important way: instead of having to download a “wav” completely before being able to listen to it, you hear the sound as it arrives at your computer, and therefore do not have to wait for a complete download.
If there is an interruption due to congestion on the internet, the audio will drop out or the screen will go blank.
To minimize the problem, the computer stores a ’buffer’ of data that has already been received. If there’s a drop-out, the buffer goes down for a while but the video is not interrupted. If there is no more data in the buffer, it will usually stop and display a message - ’buffering’ - while it catches up.
Streaming has become very common thanks to the popularity of internet radio stations and various audio and video on-demand services.
