Shelby Lions Club Honors Three Members

The  Shelby  Lions  Club  honored  three  of  its  members  during  its  meeting  Tuesday,  June  28th.      Lion  Dave  Titus  (retired) was  recognized  as  Lion  of  the  Year.  The  incoming  president  of the  club,  Lion  Dave    was  cited  for  his  role  in  getting  the  food  distribution  process  on  computer.
 A  Jack  Stickley  Fellowship  was  presented  to  Lion  Jim  Holland (employed by Maxwell B. Hamrick Insurance).    Lion  Jim  is  active  in  Elizabeth  Baptist  Church  and  the  American  Legion  as  well  as  Lions  Club,  and  is a  certified  barbecue  judge.      The  award  is  named  for  Jack  Stickley,  the  first  North  Carolinean  to  be  president  of  Lions  International.
 The  highest  award  the  club  can  bestow,  a  Melvin Jones  Fellowship,  was  given  to  Jan  Tucker  in  recognition  of  her  work  as  club  secretary  and  her  help  with  civic  projects.
 The  award  is  named  for  Melvin  Jones,  a  Chicago  businessman  who  founded  Lions  International.
