| Shelby Middle School’s Salute to Veterans! |

Shelby Middle School Principal Tim Quattlebaum welcomed the veterans from all five military branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Marines) to the schools special salute to veterans. The idea for the program came from SMS teacher, Daniel Shipley. It took place in the schools gymnasium on Wednesday, November 10th. The schools band and chorus participated. As the theme songs from each military branch was played, veterans from that branch were asked to stand up as the crowd applauded. Former military men spoke of the importance of our armed forces and the sacrifices they make. A reception for all the veterans was held in the library following this special salute.
