Shelby Police officers Wampler, Scell, and Hill greet members of the community at the Shelby Police Department's National Night Out

Shelby Police officers Wampler, Scell, and Hill greet members of the community at the Shelby Police Department's National Night Out on August 2nd, at the Bobby Bell Pavilion. The event included free hotdogs, free snowballs, kids inflatable, and much more from our other organizations.

The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office held their first ever National Night Out event on August 2, 2022 in Uptown Shelby, from 6pm-8:30pm. National Night Out is an event that provides a great opportunity to bring Law Enforcement Officers and the community together under positive circumstances. This year we had 34 deputies at the event which represented 7 different divisions of the Sheriff's Office. We were able to share 17 dozen doughnuts, coffee, and fellowship with the community, while giving away 50 insulated tumblers, 150 Logo cups & coasters, 300 key chains, and 50 Sheriff's Office T-shirts to kids at the event. The atmosphere was festive and a great time was had by all. We estimate that 400 people attended our event during the two and a half hours that we were there, and we look forward to holding this event in the years to come.

Sheriff Norman said "It goes to show that Cleveland County has a strong base of support for our law enforcement officers. We can always count on our citizens to support our efforts to help us locate missing persons or identify persons of interest in crimes, which makes the community a safer place to live. Last night was a national event but we, at the Sheriff's Office engage our citizens throughout the year with other events around the county
