Shelby VFW Post 4066 honored with District Meeting

For the first time in years, Shelby's VFW Post 4066 was honored to host the District 14 meeting on Saturday, January 24th.
The VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars), whose slogan has always been: "No One Does More For Veterans", conducted a business meeting with representatives from all nine of the District's Posts in attendance. There was a focus and discussion about the area VFW's commitment to fundraisers and community involvement, as well as additional support for Boy Scouts, Special Education, Community, Scholarships and new programs.
After the meeting, a special pork barbecue and grilled chicken luncheon was held. It also included ice cream and homemade desserts. District Commander Allen Payne expressed his gratitude for the great luncheon, warm hospitality, and super accommodations.
One thing that seemed to surprise first time guests was that the Shelby facility is available for many special events, including reunions, receptions, etc. The Shelby location's rental facility can accommodate up to 200 people and has a full service kitchen, large stage and a private bar is available. All this and plenty of free parking makes it an ideal place for special events.
Veterans from the recent conflicts are currently being recruited for membership and asked to join. VFW Post 4066 is located at 855 West Sumter Street across from Shelby City Park and just below the Main Library. Their phone number is (704) 487-9093.
