Shena Rebekah Sain Lynn

Shena Rebekah Sain Lynn, known affectionately as "Grammy", passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, in Shelby, North Carolina. Born on April 23, 1958, in Cleveland County, North Carolina, Shena's life was a testament to her loving, adventurous, and kind spirit.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister, Shena is survived by her beloved husband of many years, Charles "Skeet" Lynn; her daughter, Dawn Smith; her son, Michael Perryman; her cherished grandchildren, Brieanna, Maddie, Jakob, and Brittany Smith; and her brother, Danny Sain. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Iveree Sain, her brother, Jack Sain, and her sisters, Janet Miller and Jane Davis.

Shena's early career saw her at a hosiery mill, where she established her reputation for a tireless work ethic. Her charisma and warmth later shone through as she sold Cordon Bleu cookware, delighting customers with her presence. In her later years, Shena became a treasured waitress at Norman's Café in Vale, NC, where her kindness and quick wit made her a favorite among the patrons.

Her Christian faith was an important part of her life, and it shone through in the way she cared for her family, especially in their final days. Shena's love for her family was boundless, and she adored her grandchildren with a passion that saw her never missing an outing, whether it was a ballgame, school play, or field trip. She captured these precious moments with her camera, preserving the memories for years to come.

Shena's favorite place was the beach, where she found peace in the cool ocean breeze and the rhythmic sound of the waves. She relished vacations there with her family and friends, and her love for travel extended to journeys with her husband, where they made countless friends and acquaintances.

An avid gardener, Shena took joy in tending to her flowers and watching them bloom. She shared her love for the outdoors with her father and husband, often accompanying them on fishing trips. Her competitive spirit was evident in her love for golf, which she enjoyed playing with her husband, and her days playing softball in her early adult life.

As The Beatles one said, "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." Shena lived by these words, touching the hearts of all who knew her with her boundless love and kindness.

A funeral service to celebrate the life of Shena will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Zion Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. Allan Barlow officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories from 1:30 - 2:45 pm at the church before the service.

Shena Rebekah Lynn will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, adventure, and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her life was a beautiful journey that enriched the lives of many, and her memory will be cherished forever.
