Shirley Ann Hamrick Pruett Morgan, age 80 of Shelby, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Carolinas Healthcare System - Cleveland. She was born January 1, 1938 in Cleveland County to the late J.D. and Verleen Putnam Hamrick. She was a former sergeant from Cleveland County Sheriff's Department where she was the first lady to ever patrol and hold rank as sergeant. She retired from Allen's Auto Glass in Hickory. Her greatest passion was her family and spending time with her grandbabies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Bud Pruett and Ron Morgan; daughter, Tonda Dellinger; and sisters, Delores Canipe and Joyce Johnson.
Survivors include her children, Kenneth Pruett and wife, Sue of Stanley, Teena Sigmon and husband, Ricky of Cherryville, and Teela Allen and husband, Scott of Cherryville; son-in-law, Donnie Dellinger of Cherryville; grandchildren, Sheree Pruett, Annie Walker (Heath), Becky Perry (Jason), J.D. Whitaker (Mandy), Matthew Allen, and Dalton Allen; great grandchildren, Shyanne Dellinger, Easton Whitaker, and Jaxon Whitaker; siblings, Gene Hamrick, Faye Dobbins, and Joe Hamrick (Susie); and best friends, Libby Lynn and Geraldine Anthony.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 20, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Lail and Rev. Mike Staton officiating. Burial will follow at City Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:30 to 2:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
