Shirley Bowen Lowery, age 80, died Thursday, May 24, 2018 at her home. Born in Cleveland County on September 6, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Jacob Horace and Vernie Lee Green Bowen. Shirley was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and formerly attended David Baptist Church. She was a cafeteria worker for a number of years at Kings Mountain Middle School before leaving to open her own sewing business, Specialized Sewing. Shirley was a member of Wagon Wheels where she learned the Western Square Dance. Shirley is known for her Banana Pudding. She enjoyed gardening and painting.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 49 years, Billy "Bill" Lowery; two daughters, Robin Brittian and husband Kelly of Shelby, and Sherry Lowery of Shelby; two grandchildren, Angela Brown and Richard Carpenter.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Taule officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
