Shirley Parker Edwards, 69, went to be with her Heavenly Savior on Monday, October 15, 2012.  A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Bessie Hamrick Parker.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Billy, Alfred and Buddy Parker and her sisters, Beatrice Green and Barbara Black.  Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to a very special little boy – Dylan.   She loved to go camping at the lake and beach.  She was a sun worshiper and loved spending much of her time outdoors.  Quality time with her family was most important – her face lighting up each time family members were around.  She was a very special person to all who knew and loved her.

Shirley is survived by her husband of 51 years, Forest “Bud” Edwards; daughters, Cathy Edwards Poston and husband Arey of Oldsmar, FL and Susan Edwards Shugart and husband Brian of Lewisville, NC; brother, Clyde Parker and wife Valerie of Polkville, NC; sisters, Mary Rogers and husband Dwight of Boiling Springs, NC and Jane Sipes and husband Robert of Fallston, NC; grandchildren, Chelsea Upton and husband Clint of Shelby, Tiffany McCreary and husband Patrick of Winston-Salem, NC, Brian and Emma Shugart of Lewisville, NC; and great grandson, Dylan Chase Upton of Shelby.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.  The Rev. John Edwards Rev. Stanley Webb will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00am prior to the service at the funeral home.  At other times the family will be at the home.
