Cherryville - Mrs. Shirley Towery Beam, 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.

Shirley was born on August 6, 1937 in Lincoln County, NC a daughter of the late Plato Towery and Minnie Taylor Towery. She was a homemaker and was a member of Revival Tabernacle in Cherryville.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Coy Beam; a daughter Judy Weaver and her husband Ed; two brothers, Bill Towery, Coyte Towery and four sisters, Lorene "Teen" Morrison, Edna Cook, Betty Dean King and Alice Reynolds.

Survivors include her daughter, Diana Willis and husband Busie; three sons, Scott Gantt and wife Bobbie; Rodney Beam and wife Laura all of Cherryville and Jimmy Sisk and wife Kathy of West Virginia; a brother, Richard Towery of Hickory. 21 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00PM on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at Bess Chapel Methodist Church with Pastor Stan Nantz officiating.

Burial will be private.
