Sondra Kay Short Earl, 72, of Casar, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021 at Atrium Health - Cleveland, Shelby.

Born in Cleveland County, on August 8, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Boyd J. Short and Ruby McNeilly Short. She was a retired registered nurse, having worked at Grace Hospital, Crawley Hospital, Cleveland Regional Medical Center and Kings Mountain Hospital. After her retirement she loved working beside her husband on their farm. She loved animals especially her two dogs, Apple and Dolly and her horse, Joy.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Lisa Marie Earl.

She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of fifty years, Jerry Melvin Earl; daughter, Gina Blount of Casar; granddaughter, Mikaylyn Blount; two brothers-in-law, Larry Earl and wife, Joyce of Cherryville and Gary Earl and wife, Peggy of Belwood; sister-in-law, Betty Hudson and husband, Rock; two aunts, Patricia Bowen and Lourene Rigsbee; and two special friends, Jeanne Blanton and Mark Rigsbee.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 23, 2021, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Corinth Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at 3:00 pm at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Norris Willis, officiating.

The burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
