Stanley L. Smith, age 88, of Forest City, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2021 at Fairhaven Home in Bostic.

Stanley was born Thursday, October 6, 1932 in Polk County to the late Whitfield Smith and Ollie Harris Smith. He was of graduate of Green Creek High School, class of 1950 and a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Stanley worked at Fieldcrest Mill for forty years before retirement where he held the position of Supervisor over the Maintenance Department. He enjoyed watching sports and was an avid fisherman.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of sixty-eight years, Lilliam C. Smith; two sons, Ronnie Dale Smith (Sherry) of Union Mills and Ricky Warren Smith of Shelby; four grandchildren, Bailey Smith, Ryley Smith, Travis Smith (Tamarah Hill), Trent Smith (Betsy); great-grandchildren, Ethan Smith, Adalynn Smith and a host of nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service will be conducted with Reverend Bob Philbeck officiating. The eulogy will be given by Diane Gowan.
