Subwoofers Donate To Rescue Mission
The Subwoofers are a  team of all homeschoolers, ages 12 to 17,  who  played  in  the Dover  YMCA softball league  in Shelby.  They  finished  eleventh out of  fifteen teams in that  league this season, which is quite exceptional,  since  six out of eighteen players had not picked up a  bat  since they played t-ball. Mark Thompson was their coach. Instead of ending the season with trophies or frivolous awards, the students opted to purchase t-shirts offered through Gardner-Webb College to aid women and children who were held as sex slaves and have been rescued. They learned about this mission called “Project Rescue” while at the “Need to Breathe” concert at Gardner Webb several weeks ago.  Gardner-Webb had taken the initiative to help sponsor the mission by selling a set amount of shirts on campus to students.  The proceeds from the shirt sales go to help establish scholarships for these women who have been rescued and go to colleges across the United States. The kids donated in $360 towards this rescue mission.  Visit their website at http://projectrescue.com/our-story.html to find out more about this ministry and/or to help with their efforts.                                             –Photo Provided By Page Thompson
