Sue “Mama Sue” Good Sanders

Mrs. Sue “Mama Sue” Good Sanders, 88, of 400 Oak Street, Shelby, NC departed this life on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Hospice House in Kings Mountain, NC. She was born August 19, 1924 in Braddock PA to the late Billy and Bertha Huddleston Good.

 

“Mama Sue” as she was affectionately known, was a loving and caring person and touched the lives of many.  She had a deep compassion for those that were less fortunate and she had a reputation for being the neighborhood mom.  She was a graduate of Camp High School and joined Ellis Chapel Baptist Church in Patterson Springs at an early age.  She was a domestic worker and homemaker and she was known for her good “tea” and “fried chicken”.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Walter Sanders; her brothers, Rudolph, William, John and Cramon Good and a sister, Rebecca Good Irby.

 

Left to cherish her memory are one son, Billy C. Sanders of Charlotte, NC; three daughters, Dianne Sanders of Shelby and Sonda Kennedy and Gala “Bonnie” Reinke (Allen) both of Charlotte; her grandchildren, Todd W. Barron of Decatur, GA, Connie Kennedy of Charlotte, Ansley Kennedy-Wooten of Greensboro, NC, Shawn Brown (Angela) and Shannon Brown both of Charlotte, Modestine Blanton of Durham, NC, Lincey Generette (Nathan) of Shelby, Marsette Bridges (Terry) of Shelby and Brandon Sanders of Tucson AZ; 12 great-grandchildren; special nieces, Faye Allison of Shelby, Louise “Dee Dee” Wade of Kansas City, MO; her former son-in-law, Levon Kennedy of Greensboro; special friends who were always there for Mama Sue and will share in her loss are Harriett Adams, of Gastonia, NC, Bobby Davis of Chase City, VA, Guy Jones, Gardenia Wilson, Nadine Lipscomb, Lula Davis, Brenda and L.B. Marable, Tyvance Cansler and John Huskey and a host of precious cousins, nieces, nephews and longtime friends.

 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 1:00 PM at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel with Rev. Strickland Maddox officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:00 PM at the chapel on Thursday and at other times at the home of her daughter, Dianne Sanders, 1408 Vantage Drive, Shelby.  Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloes.net.  The family would like to thank Drs. E.B. Thombs, Sunjay Patel, Christian Anderson, Cornelius Okonkwo and Jim Potts and the nurses and staff at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, Kings Mountain Hospital, White Oak Manor of Kings Mountain and the Kings Mountain Hospice House for all the medical assistance provided.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice House in Kings Mountain.  Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
