Susan Walters Martin, age 61 died Monday, May 8, 2017 surrounded by her family. Born in Cleveland County on November 20, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Rhyne and Louise Meroney Walters. Susan was a loving and devoted Wife, Sister, Mom and Grammy. She had many accomplishments throughout her life, but her character outshined them all. She loved wholeheartedly and sacrificially. She had a calming presence that was captivating and inspiring. She loved to laugh, cook, shop, and craft. It didn't matter so much what she did, but who she was with. She will be missed by so many friends and family. In addition to her parents, Susan is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Kathryn Martin.

Susan is survived by her husband of 40 years, Roger Martin; a son, Matthew Martin and wife Christie of Shelby; a daughter, Jennifer Martin Love and husband Matt of Shelby; three grandchildren, Stella Martin, Jasmine Martin, and Jude Love; three brothers, Wayne Walters of Calhoun GA, Bill Walters and wife Lois of Nashville TN, and Flynn Walters of Grover; father-in-law, George Martin of Shelby; Susan shared a special friendship bond with three ladies for 23 years, Shirley Brown, Marla Patterson, and Amelia Poston.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 10:00 am at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Dr. Rit Varriale officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Christian Life Center. Private burial will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to a Charity of one's choice.
