Mrs. Suzanne Chasteen Martin, age 78, died Friday June 22, 2018 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Shelby, North Carolina, where she had been residing for the past three years. Born in Enville, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward Chasteen and Irene Vivian Porter Chasteen. She was a graduate of Marietta (OK) High School. After attending the University of Oklahoma, she received her undergraduate degree from East Central Oklahoma University. She taught school in Oklahoma, Tennessee and Kentucky. She served as a church pianist in a number of churches in those states alongside her late husband, Donald W. Martin, who was a long-time Minister of Music. In recent years, she has been a member of First Baptist Church of Shelby, NC, where she served as a Sunday school teacher.

Suzanne is survived by her four children: Mary Roby and husband Andrew of Shelby, NC; Malesa Mitchell of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; Mark Martin; and Mike Martin and wife Becky of Pauls Valley, OK. She is survived by five grandchildren; Rachel Roby Nall and husband Daniel of Raleigh, NC; Thomas Martin and Micah Martin Prince of Pauls Valley, OK; David Roby and fiancée Margaret Schultz of Birmingham, AL; and Paul Mitchell of Pauls Valley, OK. She is also survived by three great grandchildren: Karsen Prince and Bennett Prince of Pauls Valley, OK; and Karis Nall of Raleigh.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 30, at 2:00 PM in the Webb Chapel of First Baptist Church, Shelby, NC. Family will receive friends in the Ladies Parlor one hour before the service.
