Taffy Harry Carpenter, age 66, passed away on April 2, 2016 at Carolina Care Center Cherryville. Born in Shelby, NC on January 6, 1950 she is the daughter of Norma Browning Harry of Shelby and the late Thomas Howard Harry. Taffy retired from Carolina's HealthCare System Cleveland (Cleveland Memorial Hospital). Taffy was an active member of Landmark Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Taffy also enjoyed home decorating, she loved gardening and landscaping the yard, reading, her dog, Tanner, and she was a member of Chevy's Under Glass Corvette Club with her husband, John. Taffy is preceded in death by a brother, Butch Harry.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, John Carpenter; three step sons Scott S. Carpenter of Shelby; Deaver Carpenter of Shelby; and Chris Carpenter and wife Shelby of Kernersville. Taffy is also survived by a step daughter, Kim Carpenter of Lawndale; seven step grandchildren; Ashley Sloan, Aaron Carpenter and wife Linda, Alexas Shull and husband Will; Christian Carpenter; Alesha Hobbs; Savannah Carpenter; Chandler Carpenter; and two great grandchildren, Hunter Agee and Gavin Sloan.

A funeral service will be in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory at 12:00pm on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 with Rev. Allen Davis officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00am-12:00pm before the service.
