Ted Dellano Brittain

Ted Dellano Brittain, 86, of Shelby, NC died on May 4, 2021 at Atrium Health-Charlotte after a brief illness.

Born in Cleveland County on October 20, 1934, he was the son of the late Lennie H. Brittain and Sallie R. Brittain of Lawndale. He was a 1953 graduate of Piedmont High School. He served in the US Army for 2 years, and graduated from Howard's Business College. He was a member of Lafayette Street U.M. Church.

Ted worked for his father in construction, building houses all over Shelby and Cleveland County. He then worked for Jones and Honeycutt before starting a new company with Mike Shull. He later worked at Cleveland Lumber Company for 15 years. After retirement, he worked part-time at Food Lion for 7 years just to see and make new friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Gene Smith and Ed Hamrick, a step-son, Bobby Hunt, two sisters, Jackie Hamrick and Kay Lail, and a brother, Jimmy Brittain.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Faye Sain Brittain; daughter, Cathy Smith and companion, Alan Wilson of Shelby; daughter, Melanie Hamrick and companion, Robert Stamey of Boiling Springs; and step-daughter Sherry Hunt-Dedmon and husband Shane, of Chesnee, SC; three grandchildren, Tripp Smith (Emily), Brittany Burnett of Shelby, and Lauren Hamrick of Boiling Springs; two step-grandsons, Trey Ross of Shelby and Derek Ross (Brittany) of Columbus, GA; six great-granddaughters, Bristyl and Brooklyn Smith, Chloee and Ember Burnett, and Jaylee and Rinley Ross; and a brother, George Brittain (Mary Ruth) of Shelby.

At Ted's request, there will be no services.
