Teresa Lynn Plank Sigmon, age 63 of Maiden passed away peacefully Thursday July 24, 2025 at Catawba Valley Medical Center where she was surrounded by the love of her family.

Teresa was born on August 15, 1961, in Johnson City, Tennessee, to the late John Edward Plank, Jr. and Linda Lou Hagy Plank. In her early years, her family moved to Shelby, North Carolina, where she graduated from Crest High School and began working at Cone Mills.

After marrying the love of her life, Roger Dale Sigmon, Teresa moved to Maiden, North Carolina, and joined Carolina Mills. There, she formed lasting friendships and became an integral part of the Maiden community. A woman of strong faith, Teresa was a devoted member of Mays Chapel United Methodist Church.

Later in life, Teresa followed her passion for helping others by becoming the owner and an instructor at the Cosmetology School of Beauty in Lincolnton, NC. She found joy in sharing her knowledge and skills, guiding her students with warmth and patience. Eventually, she shifted paths and became a store manager for several Circle K locations. Her outgoing spirit and compassion made it easy for her to connect with customers and coworkers alike. Her home store in Maiden became a special place where she touched many lives before her retirement.

Teresa will be remembered for her infectious laughter, sharp wit, and boundless creativity--especially her talent for crocheting, needlepoint, and other crafts. She loved deeply and selflessly, always giving of herself without hesitation. Her devotion to her family and her unwavering faith in the Lord were constants in her life.

Teresa was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a cherished nanny, and a nurturing sister. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters Deborah Plank, Vickie Toney, Elizabeth Jolley, Sister-in-law Kathryn "Kathy" Sigmon Isenhower.

Daughter: Tonia Sigmon Starr, Partner Wesley Haas of Maiden

Brothers: Mike Plank and wife, Nancy of Shelby, NC; David Plank and wife Gina, of Wasilla, Alaska; Eddie Plank and wife, Sandy of Lawndale, NC

Sister: Pam Greene and husband, Ronnie of Mooresboro, NC

Brothers-in-Law: Gary Jolley, Danny Toney

Grandchildren: Zack Hansley and wife Heather; Chase Finney all of Maiden

Great Grandchild: her pride and joy Presley Hansley

A memorial service will be held, Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Mays Chapel Methodist Church in Maiden with Rev. Dr. Jason Guyer officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 - 10:45 AM at the church.
