The Hospice Store Grand Opening!
Hospice Cleveland County recently opened a Thrift Store near Uptown Shelby. The store is located at 323 E. Marion Street beside Dollar General and features approximately 5,000 square feet of retail space. Over 600 people attended the grand opening which was held on Friday, March 15th. WOHS broadcasted live with giveaways and music, guest were also greeted by the Chick-fil-A Cow. The Cleveland County Chamber was on hand for a special ribbon cutting before shoppers rushed the door in search of treasures.
Hospice Cleveland County depends on donations from the community to keep the shelves stocked. Donations accepted include: housewares, books, furniture, appliances, tools, and more. (Note: No clothing items please!) A full list of items can be downloaded at www.hospicecares.cc. You’ll receive a receipt for tax purposes with every donation.
We happily accept your boxes, bags, and entire carloads of stuff at the store during business hours or to schedule a pick-up, please call Store Manager Angela Jones at 980-295-8578.
Rising costs, Medicare cuts, and an increased number of patients in need have caused hospices all over the US, including Cleveland County, to look for alternate sources of income. One venture that has been successful for many nonprofits is a resale/thrift store. The board of directors and staff at Hospice Cleveland County began researching and planning for the store last year.
Because every purchase at the Hospice Store benefits patients and families, you can feel good about shopping for furniture, antiques, and more.
Volunteers are also needed in the Hospice Store. Help is needed cleaning, organizing, and tagging items that come in as well as store clerks. WE NEED YOU! Call 704-487-4677 to get started volunteering with Hospice Cleveland County today!
