The Phantom Ball...
What is the Phantom Ball and why should I support it???    The Phantom Ball is a non-event that is a fundraiser sponsored by the Service Department of the Council on Aging to support the multitude of services offered.  These services are available to all seniors who qualify throughout Cleveland County.   The Council on Aging is a 501-3-C (a not for profit organization).  Self-supporting fundraisers, United Way, and private contributions fund approximately 75% of the Service Department.  Many of the services offered have no financial support other than volunteers and private contributions.  The Service Departments main focus is to enhance the quality of life for those over the age of 60 with limited income, poor health and/or bad choices.    Some of the services offered are Emergency Food Pantry, Nutritional Supplements, Incontinent Supplies, and Home Delivered Meals, Men and Ladies support groups, Medical Equipment Loan program, Housekeeping Services, Home Repairs, Telephone Reassurance, Insurance counseling including Medicare and Medicaid.  The two full time staff members along with two part time staff receive calls daily requesting Information and Referrals.  If you need additional information on any of the services offered please call the center @ 704-482-3488.
