Thelma Louise McSwain, age 91 died Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Cleveland Pines. Born in Cleveland County on August 18, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Ben and Mary Estelle Gladden Glenn. Thelma was a lifetime member of New Hope Baptist Church. She retired from Fiber Industries after 20 years of service. Thelma enjoyed gardening, cooking for her family, quilting, and dancing. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, Thelma is preceded in death by two sisters, Rebecca Burch and Betty Graham.

Thelma is survived by a son, Roger McSwain and wife Carolyn of Shelby; a daughter, Lydia Paulette McSwain of Shelby; a sister, Irene Clark of Shelby; a brother, Tommy Glenn and wife LuAnne of Shelby; three grandchildren, Matt McSwain, Jeannine McDonald and husband Brock and Amanda Kentfield and husband Matthew; and five great grandchildren, Bayla McSwain, Ben McSwain, Rocklyn McDonald, Brady Kentfield, and Collins Kentfield.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 3, 201 at 4:00 pm at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Russ Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 pm until 4:00 pm in the sanctuary before the service.
