Theresa Emma Beattie Eaker

Theresa Emma Beattie Eaker, 77, of Shelby, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at White Oak Manor in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Enos Hughes Beattie and Clara Emma Wright Beattie.

Theresa was a graduate of Burns High School in Fallston in the class of 1967 and went on to receive her Associates Degree in Communications Technology from Cleveland Community College. She retired from Belk after 25 years of service filling a number of roles, including management. Theresa was a member of Pleasant City Church where she was a former teacher for the Girls in Action classes. She was an avid gardener, a member of the Rose Society, and kept a record of walking at least 10,000 steps per day.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, J.B. Eaker; and siblings, Hugh Beattie, and Libby Martin.

Survivors include her son, Jason Ty Eaker (Debbie), of Shelby; brother, James "Jimmy" Beattie, of Boiling Springs; grandchildren, Jonathan Eaker, Paul Brown, all of Shelby; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 6:30 pm on Sunday, April 19, 2026 at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, April 20, 2026 at Pleasant City Church with Pastor Gary Marburger officiating. Burial will follow in the Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery.
