Thomas Edward Benton, 75 of Lawndale, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018
at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

Born in Cleveland County on April 24, 1943, He was a son of the late Amon A.
Benton and Katherine Dale Benton. He was a retired electrician. Eddie was a
member of Olive Grove Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School for
forty some years and often assisted other churches with ministerial duties.
He was also a member of Casar Masonic Lodge #579 and served in the Army
during Vietnam for about 7 years in the 11th Armory Calvary Division.

Eddie loved his family, his church, his Sunday School Class and his Country.
He will be greatly missed by his loving family. Eddie was a great Husband,
Dad, Father-in-Law and Grandpa to his four grandchildren that he adored. He
also loved the Tarheels football and basketball and the Green Bay Packers.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by five brothers,
Charlie, Fred, Emmett, Lee and Joe Benton and two sisters, Pearl Bledsoe and
Irene Hull.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Meade Benton; son, Tommy
Benton and wife Lori of Spindale; four grandchildren, Allison, Thomas,
Katherine and Jesse Benton all of Spindale; brother, Paul Benton of Casar
and sister, Lillie Earl and husband, Wayne of Polkville.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sunday, December 2,
2018, at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston. At other times the family
will be at the home of Tommy & Lori Benton, 168 Nebraska Street, Spindale,
NC 28160.

The funeral service will be at 3:00 PM, Sunday December 2, 2018 at
Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terrill Crump officiating.

The burial will follow in Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Graveside
Rites by Fallston American Legion Post 527 and Casar Masonic Lodge # 579.
