Thomas Eugene Latham

Thomas Eugene Latham, "Tommy" died peacefully at home on June 11, 2025, surrounded by his family and dog.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George & Ginny Latham; father and mother-in-law, Olan & Lottie Padgett;brother, Joe Latham; and granddaughter, Anna Grace Stowe.

Tommy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Regina Padgett Latham; daughters, Allison (Alan) Qualls, Jodie (Eric) Parker; grandchildren, Charlie Qualls, Laney Qualls, and Caroline Stowe; siblings, Carolyn Gold, Robert "Bobby" (Bonnie) Latham, Sue (Wade) Harmon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tommy was born in Anderson County, S.C. on September 11, 1951. He was married to Regina on October 23, 1971. Tommy and Regina have been inseparable since the eighth grade. He always said he won the "wife lottery" when talking about Regina. They met at church as young'uns after Barry Ledbetter invited him to RA's and to play baseball. Thereafter, he became a life-long and active member at Beaver Dam Baptist Church. He loved playing church softball in his younger years and was so competitive that he once cut a cast off his broken wrist to be able to play a game. He was a beloved deacon and taught Sunday School for the college and career class and later for his special friend and student, Michael Methvin. Tommy wasinvolved in Men on Mission projects and also sang in the choir.

Tommy was a "character" and was known for his wonderful humor. He liked to say, "the third grade was the hardest three years of his life." Tommy worked as a "cabbage salesman" (or food service salesman) for PYA Monarch for many years andlater became owner and operator of Eagle Hauling. Tommy was a day trader before it was "even a thing," and he enjoyed watching the stock-market, which he called "Mr. Market."

He was a hard worker and always provided for his family. He loved helping people whenever he could. He was a good neighbor and friend. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time on his tractor or lawnmower, which he said was the best time for praying or "ciphering" on something. He never met a stranger, and established friendships with everyone he met. He was a wonderful husband to Regina, Daddy to his girls, and "Pop" to his grandchildren. He loved his spoiled rotten beagle, Woodrow (Woody). Tommy was so proud of his family and gathered together with them every Sunday for lunch.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Beaver Dam Baptist Church, with Pastor Tom Runyon officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
