SHELBY: Thomas "Tom" Robert McAllister Sr., 87, died Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Atrium Health in Shelby. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Charles and Annie McNeely McAllister. Tom served in the Army, and retired from Davidson Memorial Baptist Church, working in many different capacities of the church, over 32 years. He was a member of Zoar Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Elsie Davis McAllister; son, Richard McAllister; granddaughter, Angela McAllister; sister, Lucille Powell; and brothers, Bill, Paul, Ray, Charles Jr., Bobby Dean, and George McAllister. He is survived by his son, Thomas McAllister Jr. of Lawndale; daughters, Carol Carpenter of Shelby, and Cathy Creswell and husband Chris of Boiling Springs; sisters, Betty Davis and Ruby Harper, both of Shelby; brother, John McAllister and wife Gloria of Boiling Springs; grandchildren, Justin Carpenter and wife Amanda of Shelby, Casey Creswell and wife Spencer of Spindale, and Christian Creswell and fiancé Morgan Dawson of Iron Station; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Savannah, Dakota, and Elsie; a special friend, Doris Jackson; and his faithful canine companion, Prince. Funeral services will be held 3pm, Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel, with the Dr. Danny West officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service, at the funeral home. Burial will be held 11am, Monday, December 31, 2018, at Cleveland Memorial Park, with military honors.
