SHELBY - Thomas William Shalp, Sr. went into the hands of the Lord Friday, December 03, 2021 at 8:00 AM. He was 73 years old. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Bessie Buff Shalp; daughter, Jeanie Dysart; two sisters, Helen Ledbetter and Virgie Sanders; beloved brother, Bobby "Bud" Shalp.

He left behind his wife of 41 years, Melba Shalp of the home; April Scarborough and fiance' Reverend Thomas Vaughn of Shelby; son, Thomas Shalp, Jr. and wife Amanda of Shelby; two older daughters by a previous marriage, Annette Weishett and Brenda Parker both of Sunbury, NC; sisters, Betty Martin and husband Burl Martin of Dallas, NC and Linda Shalp of Shelby; twelve grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a kind, giving man that never met a stranger and always helped those in need. He was a volunteer EMT of Cleveland County back in the 70's and a volunteer firefighter of Waco, NC for a majority of his life. He will be greatly missed but we know he is no longer in pain and is rejoicing in Heaven with his dearest family members and friends that went before him. He loved talking on the CB Radio his handle was 359. He also drove a concrete truck for Dedmons Concrete for over 30 years and was loyal friends to the owners and coworkers.

His earthly body will be laid to rest with a Graveside Service on Tuesday, December 07, 2021 at 1:00 PM within his family plot at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 3932 Pleasant Grove Church Road, Shelby, NC 28150. The service will be officiated by Reverend Thomas Vaughn.
