Thousands Come Out For "Relay For Life" Rally
We Will Survive...Cancer survivors and supporters filled the fairgrounds.
Survivors and committed citizens of Cleveland County who are dedicated to winning the battle against cancer, came to the “Relay For Life” rally at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds on Friday, May 21. The event lasted 24 hours. This was a celebration of life and a chance for many to show their determination that a cure for cancer will be found. It was announced that Cleveland County has raised $4 million dollars since the inception of “Relay For Life”. It was a magnanimous achievement and outward sign of our commitment to the cause. “The Spirit of Relay” Award was presented to  Ed Minor, a cancer survivor who is continuing to fight everyday.  He constantly fights overwhelming odds to survive. Mr.  Minor  is deeply involved in gathering support for Relay For Life. He is truly a role model. He constantly seeks to do anything he can to fight cancer and bring about a cure. His special recognition was given among tears and with the support of his grandchildren. The dedicated people of Cleveland County stayed all night and joined in with a togetherness that only such a life threatening disease can inspire.
