Timothy Scott Johnston, 66, of Hickory, passed away on Tuesday, June 02, 2026, at his home with his family by his side.

Scott was born on May 23, 1960, in Catawba County and was a son of William Granville Johnston of Hickory and the late Katie Lou Young Johnston. He was employed with The Systems Depot and attended Norman's Grove Baptist Church. Scott enjoyed lifting weights and being active, mountain biking, working outdoors and bird watching.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by brother, Bill Johnston.

Timothy is survived by his wife of twenty-four years, Dwanda Chapman Johnston; two daughters Catherine Mellon and husband Nick of Shelby and Alyssa Dale and husband Daniel of Hickory; two grandchildren, Carleigh Smith and husband Jacob and Elijah Dale; great granddaughter, Oaklynn Smith; niece, Angela Blackburn and husband Jamey; great niece, Caitlin Blackburn and Alec Hathcock; great nephew, Landon Blackburn and great-great nephew, Blaine Hathcock all of Hickory.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 12, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home, Fallston.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Norman's Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Decker and Rev. Keith Huss officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
