Tom McSwain, 70, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the VA Hospital in Salisbury.  A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Wade Thomas and Evelyn Beam McSwain.  He was also preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Gene McSwain; son-in-law, Lonnie Pettit; and sister-in-law, Betty McSwain.  Tom was a member of King Soloman Masonic Lodge #704 where he was a master mason, past master and past secretary and a member of St. Michael Catholic Church.  He served his country in the US Army.  Tom loved to ride his Harley, loved the outdoors and was always there to help anyone in need.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Rece Rosario Lescano McSwain; son, Jeffrey Todd McSwain of Kings Mountain; daughter, Micki Rae McSwain Pettit of Kings Mountain; sister, Annie Ruth McSwain Brackett and husband Jim of Fallston; brother, Mitchell McSwain of Shelby; grandchildren, Jeffrey McSwain and fiancé Brandi Davis, Ashley McSwain, Sage Luley, Mati Pettit, Alayna Pettit; great grandchild, Payton McSwain.

A celebration of life service will be held at the Chapel of Cecil M Burton Funeral Home and Crematory on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 2:00pm.  The Rev. Jim Brackett will be officiating.  Burial will follow in Cleveland Memorial Park with full military and masonic rites.  A rosary will be held at 6:30pm followed by the receiving of friends from 7:00 – 8:30pm on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Cecil M Burton Funeral Home and Crematory.
