Tommy Dean Price

Rev. Tommy Dean Price, affectionately known to all as Tommy, was a beacon of light in the Shelby community.

On November 29, 2024, Heaven gained a faithful servant as Tommy was called home at the age of 62, in the very town where his story began--Shelby, North Carolina. Born on September 2, 1962, Tommy was the son of the late Paul and Nancy Price. Tommy's life was a testament to the values of love, service, and family.

Tommy's journey through life was a rich tapestry woven with devotion and care. His beloved wife of 39 years, Paula Price, stood by him as a testament to enduring love. Together, they raised a family that was the pride of Tommy's heart: his son, Tommy Price II, his daughter, Candace Peterson, and her husband Randy. His brother, Timmy Price, and wife Judy, his sister-in-law, Sandra Price, and the memory of his late brother, Benjamin Price, held special places in his life. The legacy of his love continued to blossom through his six grandchildren--Cheyenne Jay, Nettie & Randy Peterson, Joshua, David, and Valerie Price--and the joyous laughter of his four great-grandchildren, Bailey, Scarlet Payne, and Asher and Chloe Garris.

A funeral service to remember the life of Pastor Tommy will be held on Tuesday Evening, December 3, 2024, at 6:00 pm in the Fallston Chapel of Stamey-Tysinger Funeral Home with the Rev. Ricky Sigmon and Rev. Michael Manis officiating. The Family of Tommy will receive friends on Monday, December 2 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Tommy's professional life mirrored his personal devotion. For many years, he was the respected manager of the NAPA Auto Parts Store in Fallston, where his kind and generous spirit made him a beloved figure. But it was his calling as the Pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Shelby that truly captured the essence of Tommy's life. His unwavering faith and loving nature made him a pillar in the church community, guiding his flock with a gentle hand and a compassionate heart.

Those who knew Tommy could speak at length about his kindness, his loving nature, and his generous spirit. He was a man who walked in the footsteps of Christ, always ready with a helping hand or a word of comfort. His presence was a source of strength and his laughter a source of joy. It was often said that to know Tommy was to know a slice of heaven on earth.

In the words of the Apostle Paul, a sentiment that Tommy held dear, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (2 Timothy 4:7). Tommy's life was indeed a good fight, one fought with love and perseverance; a race completed with dignity and grace; a faith kept with unwavering conviction.

As we bid farewell to Rev. Tommy Dean Price, we do so with hearts full of gratitude for the time we were blessed to share with him. His memory will continue to inspire us, his teachings will guide us, and his love will envelop us for all our days. As we reflect on his life, we are reminded that the love we give in life is the very thing that endures beyond our earthly journey.

We celebrate Tommy's life, not in mourning, but with the joy he would have wanted. We will gather, share stories, sing hymns, and give thanks for the gift that was his presence in our lives. Though he has departed from our sight, the essence of his spirit remains an indelible part of all who loved him.

Rev. Tommy Dean Price's legacy is not one of bricks and mortar, but one of love, faith, and family. As we honor his memory, let us carry forward the light he so freely shared, shining it into the corners of our own lives and the lives of others. In doing so, we keep alive the spirit of a truly remarkable man--a man who lived for others and now rests in the glory of his Creator
