Troy E. Gordon

Troy E. Gordon, age 80, of Caroleen, went home to with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 3, 2023 at Accordius Health-Rutherfordton.

Troy was born Wednesday, January 13, 1943 to the late Roland Gordon and Zella Vess Gordon. He worked as a loom fixer/supervisor for Cone Mills for thirty years and as the supervising funeral assistant at Harrelson Funeral Home for over fourteen years. Troy was a faithful member of the Christian Fellowship Missionary Methodist Church where he served as a deacon and in various other capacities. He was a volunteer fireman for the Cliffside Fire Department and later became assistant chief and the chief of the department. After retirement, he served on the Board of Directors. He enjoyed making memories with his grandchildren, fishing, taking his dog, Lucy, on walks, building anything and everything and sitting and relaxing on his front porch. Troy was a dedicated Christian, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He leaves a legacy of hard work, faithfulness, kindness and love toward others as an example for all to follow.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Merlin Gordon; sister, Judy Gordon Cole and sister-in-law, Beverly Gordon.

Left to cherish fond memories are his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Carolyn Biggerstaff Gordon; son, Gene Gordon (Sandy) and daughter, Christine Noschese (Bart) all of Rutherfordton; brothers, Glenn Gordon (Pat) of Greenville, SC and Kenneth Gordon of Sandy Mush; sister, Yvonne Lawson (Larry) of Bostic; grandchildren, Chad Gordon (Megan) and Peyton Noschese Lutz (Jack); great-grandchildren, Emma, Zella, Branson, Berkley, Jensen and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 8th at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Ernie Cole and Reverend Lanny J. Funchess officiating. Interment will follow with Fire Fighter Honors at Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorial donations are requested to the Christian Fellowship Missionary Methodist Building Fund, 123 Beams Mill Road, Ellenboro, NC 28040.
