Troy Edgar Branch
Troy Edgar Branch, age 90, of Forest City, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at the Oakland Living Center in Rutherfordton.
Born May 1, 1926 in Rutherford County, he was a son to the late John J. Branch and Maude Lee Morrow Branch. He served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Knox and was a Veteran of World War II. Following his military service, he worked for Burlington Industries and Springs Mills for over forty-years before retirement. He was a faithful member of Campfield Memorial Baptist Church and a past member of the Cliffside Masonic Lodge #460 and the Chase Lions Club. Troy enjoyed woodworking, farming, raising animals and taking trips to the beach and to the mountains. He loved his family dearly and will be missed greatly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of seventy years, Louise Stanley Branch; daughter, LaMonda Brigman and one brother, J.D. Branch.
Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Branch of Forest City; two sisters, Lela Mae Fish of Shelby and Carolyn Kiser also of Forest City; three grandchildren, Gina Pitchford (Robert), Jonathan Humphries (Rebecca) and Carmen White (Andrew); four great-grandchildren, Laela Humphries, Jasper Fagan, Troy Pitchford and Jack Pitchford.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the Harrelson Funeral Chapel with Reverend Scott Huffman officiating. Interment will follow in Rutherford County Memorial Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
