Tunny M. Wilkinson, 92, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at Abernathy Laurels in Newton.

Tunny was born on September 29, 1932 in Lincoln County, NC a son of the late Willie O. Wilkinson and Lou Nellie Houser Wilkinson. He was retired as a long line driver from Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation after 38 years of service. He was a member of Boger City Baptist Church in Lincolnton. Tunny served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean Chapman Wilkinson; two sisters, Hilda Becker and Rowena Hoyle; two brothers, Baine Wilkinson and Coyte Wilkinson.

Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Hatley and husband Fred of Lincolnton; a son, Robby M. Wilkinson and wife Tandra of Taylorsville; three grandchildren, Shannon, Chelsea and Matthew; two great grandchildren, Emma Grace and Gabe.

The family will receive friends from 12:45PM to 1:45PM on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Boger City Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Boger City Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Bigham officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Lincolnton with military honors provided by the Cherryville American Legion Post 100 Honor Guard.
