The Cleveland Grown Cleveland Strong Farm Tour will be Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 9am until 3 pm.
Cost is $10 per adult and $5 per child (12 and under). Groups rates for 10 or more are available. There will be charter bus transportation & a local-grown lunch provided. Tour departs from the USDA office at 844 Wallace Grove Rd, Shelby. Calll 704-471-0235 ext 3 for ticket information.
Farm Tour participants will tour Boggs Farm Center in Fallston: Check out one of the last remaining cotton gins in the county and learn about our county's cotton history. Thompson Farm: Discover the ins and outs of raising cattle and pasture management in beautiful Upper Cleveland County. Underwood Family Farm: See what it takes to go organic at the county's first USDA certified organic dairy. Also sheep, chickens, pigs and more! Knob Creek Orchard: October is apple season. Learn about raising fruit crops, while enjoying a local-grown lunch and old-fashioned ice cream.
