Urijah James Christopher Orton
Urijah James Christopher Orton, born September 13, 2016, brought laughter and adventure to everyone who knew him.
His infectious smile had the power to light up any room.
He was his father's baby boy, and they shared a deep connection. He loved playing Fortnite with his dad and big brothers, building bonfires, and working on cars. Urijah also found great joy in pulling his dad's beard, a playful bond between them. He was also a great cuddle bug, bringing warmth and comfort to his family.
Urijah shared a special and unbreakable bond with his beloved mother. They loved watching Sam and Cat together. He was her constant companion her shadow, a source of joy, and a shining light in her life. His memory will forever remain a cherished treasure in her heart.
In April of 2023, Urijah faced a challenging battle when he was diagnosed with leukemia. Throughout his journey, he displayed incredible courage and resilience, inspiring everyone around him.
Urijah shared a special connection with his big brother, Noah, who lovingly referred to him as "Bubba.
On October 18, 2023, Urijah Orton peacefully passed away at the children's hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was supposed to start T-Ball before his diagnosis, a sport he was eager to explore. Urijah was a first-grade student at Elizabeth Elementary, where he had a bright future ahead.
Urijah is survived by his mother Brittany Ward, his father Derek Orton, and his siblings: Noah, Skylar, Willow, Derek Jr., and Topanga. His Grandparents Jeff and Jackie Ward(Watertown NY) and Mary Goldthrite(Grover NC). His Great Grandparents Alvin Whitman(Watertown NY) and Betty Ferguson(Grover NC). His many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Urijah was preceded in death by his Great-Grandmother Judy Whitman in 2021, and His Great-Grandfather Theodore Ferguson in 2013. His Great-Grandmother Josephine Ward 2009.
Urijah's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, a reminder of the bravery, love, and adventure he brought to this world. Though his time with us was too brief, his impact was profound, and his spirit will always shine brightly in our lives. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Clay-Barnette Funeral Home and Aquamation Center in Shelby.
