Mrs. Vera Lee McKinzie, 83, of Kingstown, NC passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at her residence. She was born on February 10, 1937 in Rutherford County, NC to the late L.C. Lee and the late Lottie Mae Hopper Lee.

Mrs. McKinzie was a member of Eskridge Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of the Mary Wilson Missionary Group. After retirement, she enjoyed working as a Foster Grandparent with the Cleveland County School system. When she was able, she loved cooking, baking and traveling with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charlie Lee, J.C. Lee and Billy Lee.

She leaves to cherish her memory to her husband, of 62 years, James Leonard McKinzie; her children, Linda J. McKinzie of the home who was her caregiver; Sonya D. McKinzie of Durham, NC and Mark McKinzie of Gastonia, NC; a daughter-in law, Susan McKinzie of CA; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Winnie Louise Pettis and Jessie L. Parrish both of Shelby, NC; two brothers, Jeremiah (Maxine) of Detroit, MI and Sammy Lee (friend, Brenda) of Asheville, NC; sister-in-law, Frances Lee of Shelby, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service for Mrs. McKinzie will be private. The service will be livestreamed starting at 3:15 PM on Thursday, February 4, 2021. She can be viewed from 10:00 AM until 12:00 Noon on Thursday at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel with a reception of friends from 3:00 PM until 3:30 PM.
